After 9 years of pure competition, the 20k Ultratrail returns to its rawest form. We’ve stripped away the clocks, the bib numbers, and the finish-line tape. We kept what truly matters: the legendary track, the silence of the great peaks, and the ultimate challenge against oneself.
The 20k Heritage Rally is no longer just a race; it is a permanent bikepacking adventure in total self-sufficiency (unsupported) across the Western Alps and the French Haute Alpes. It is a year-round journey you can face whenever you choose, requiring respect, strong legs, and a lion’s heart.
THE FORMAT: HOW IT WORKS
The Rally is officially open from June to September. There is no fixed start date: you decide when to challenge the mountain.
- Register & Get the Track: For a symbolic fee of €29, you will receive the official updated GPX track (1000km with 25,000m of positive elevation gain).
- Receive your Brevet Card: you can pick up the official Rally Brevet Card—your “passport to glory.”
- Stamps & Mountain Huts: Along the route, you will find official Checkpoints (Partner Refuges). Stop your bike, take a breath, get your stamp, and enjoy the high-altitude hospitality.
- Join the Syndicate: Once you complete the route, send us your GPS proof and a photo of your stamped Brevet Card. You will officially enter the 20k Heritage Syndicate, our permanent Wall of Fame.
THE HIERARCHY OF THE MOUNTAINS
While there is no leaderboard, the time you take will define your “noble title” within our community. Upon completion, your Brevet Card will be sealed with the symbol of your rank:
- 👑 KING: For those who conquer the route in under 5 days. A feat for the elite few.
- 🐎 KNIGHT: For those who complete the challenge in under 7 days. A testament to strength, honor, and resilience.
- 🛡️ FINISHER: For those who experience the mountains for more than 7 days. You are the keeper of the way, having savored every single meter.

- Official GPX Track: The definitive route, optimized and tested for extreme bikepacking.
- Physical Brevet Card: A collectible paper document to record your progress.
- Digital Route Guide: A PDF featuring technical tips, water points, bike shops, and info on partner mountain huts.
- Access to the Wall of Fame: Your name will forever be part of 20k history.
- Exclusive Discounts: Special treatment at participating mountain huts and rally partners.
GOLDEN RULES
- Total Autonomy: NO external support. It’s just you, your bike, and your ability to adapt.
- Respect: The Alps are fragile. Leave no trace, respect the trails, and the refuge hosts.
- Safety: This route is extreme. You are responsible for your own safety. Always check the weather forecast before setting off.
